Santorum suspends GOP presidential campaign

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (AP) - Bowing to the inevitable, Rick Santorum quit the presidential campaign Tuesday, clearing the way for Mitt Romney to claim the Republican nomination.

Santorum, appearing with his wife and family in his home state of Pennsylvania, told supporters the race for him was over, but the fight to defeat President Barack Obama would go on.

Santorum made no mention of Romney, and stressed that he’d gone farther than anyone expected, competing “against all odds.”

The delegate totals told the tale of Santorum’s demise. Romney has more than twice as many delegates as Santorum and is on pace to reach the number needed to clinch the nomination - 1,144 - by early June. Still in the race, but not considered a factor: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul.

Allow me be very blunt; the Right, the GOP, that Grand Old Party, the Republicans, just BITCH SLAPPED every real Conservative in America.

You heard that very loud *BooYahhh!* didn’t you? That was the GOP slapping you.

Back in October Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair, made it crystal clear, Romney to be GOP nominee – Elections no longer required. The Perry and Cain supporters were livid with me for posting that story. I don’t CARE if they were livid, I post TRUTH as I see it, I post opinion and I post what I believe. Once again, those opinions, gut feelings and intuitions have come to fruition, just as I said they would, Romney is going to be the candidate.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the GOP is a wreck! It is NOT a Conservative organization! At this point in time, I’m not even sure they can spell the word Conservative.

I have a Facebook friend, Zane Cofield, that I grab a quote from now and then, this is HIS quote:

RICK SANTORUM is OUT of the PRESIDENTIAL RACE. Only a matter of time now before we have to, as GOPer’s support Romney, or as Conservatives, start campaigning AGAINST Obama, pick one.

Zane is laser focused on getting Barack Hussein Obama OUT of office, as am I, but I have to disagree with him here.

We, as GOP members and/or supporters, have no choice but to support Romney, even though we mostly have no use for this RINO from Massachusetts. As Conservatives, we also have NO choice other than supporting Romney as we campaign to get the Kenyan, Marxist, Socialist, bastard out of office.

‘Pick one’ is NOT an option, we either embrace BOTH positions or Obama gets 4 more years to destroy this nation.

When this race started I was a Rick Perry supporter, I make NO apologies for that, but I literally cringed every time he took the stage in a debate setting. I knew he was about to shoot himself in the foot.

Rick Perry has been a pretty good Governor for us here in Texas, he made mistake, he made verbal gaffes on occasion, but overall, Perry was not, in MY opinion, a bad choice to lead this nation.

Out of all the candidates that ran this time around, I felt that Rick Perry was, quite likely, the most Conservative and the one that had the necessary BALLS to run this nation and lead our military.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

Newt Gingrich is still in the race. (yawn)

Ron Paul will probably come out with a statement to the effect of: “Today I jumped in the polls, we have a chance, we can DO this, I am the only one that can lead us back to the *Mother Ship*, uh, wait … In Liberty!”

Mitt Romney is, at best, a RINO, a Republican In Name Only. I am more than convinced that he’s not even a RINO, I am thinking he’s running as a Republican much for the same reasons that Ron Paul runs as a Republican; he knows that if his true self we disclosed, he couldn’t get his name on a ballot anywhere, but, he is, apparently, what we have to work with.

Now, we must ALL support, and work our tails off to get this RINO elected, and HOPE that he can be controlled, and guided into doing what’s right for America.

Retain the House, re-take the Senate, re-take the White House and then focus on kicking the GOP square in the ASS and either force them to become a CONSERVATIVE political party OR we build us a REAL Conservative party and take the GOP and Dems BOTH down!

It looks like the SCOTUS will strike down Obamacare, thus the problem of Romneycare is a moot point. Compared to Obama, Romney looks like Goldwater. I will vote for Romney because voting for a 3rd party is giving the vote to Obama.

    • BobF says:

I’ve always believed that no matter what the outcome on Obamacare by SCOTUS, it was a win-win situation for Obama. If SCOUTUS strikes it down, then he no longer has that massive weight that the American People didn’t want hanging over his head. To the left, they will have known he tried and the MSM will make sure it’s out of sight and mind for most of the rest of the country. If they uphold it, then he can blow his trumpets and say that even a Conservative Court upheld his signature bill. Either way, it benefits him.

    • TexasFred says:

I WILL support Romney, I WILL vote for him, but I’d vote for Howdy Doody over Obama…

I am just firmly convinced that if this is the best the GOP can do, the GOP has outlived its usefulness…

      • Katie says:

I agree with that last sentence Fred. How about a run from you?

        • TexasFred says:

Ya know, about 5 minutes after I posted this today, the phone rang, it was my Mayor and he asked pretty much the same thing…

You don’t start out running for POTUS, you start local and work your way up… I am 58 years old and have health issues, I’m a little late getting started if I ever has aspirations to go National…

And I am way too unPC to get elected in Dallas County..

Where I live is very Conservative, the whole town, but this area (Dallas proper) is Dem controlled and I wouldn’t mourn it being hit by 15 or 20 kilotons… 😈

  2. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

So, I ask: which Romney will we see?

Will it be Moderate Mitt — because he doesn’t have to “play” at making Conservative music any more? Or will he continue on something of a conservative bent? What is the REAL Romney behind the curtain?

  3. Steve Dennis says:

To be blunt, this is a disaster. Romney is not a conservative, Santorum was the only real conservative in the race and the GOP has sold us down the river. If Romney wins it must be coupled with the House and the Senate because if the Dems control the Congress Romney will govern as a liberal just as he did in Massachusetts.

  4. mrchuck says:

I’ll vote Romney to equalize these arrogant Black Panthers.
I remember vividly the “old” days when we(USMS) broke up, these Panthers by attacking their NYC HQ with a bazooka.
I’d like to do it again, if I could.

    Romney can do it.
Imagine the riots when all of these Obama Czars have to move out of the White House.
I will watch every minute of it!

  5. Hoosier Army Mom says:

You are soooo correct Fred, the RNC / GOP has screwed true Conservatives again. I’m getting the clothes pin out for election day because the stench will be overwhelming, but anybody is better than the poser we have now.

  6. Bunkerville says:

At least we can now start attacking Obama. I cannot believe Obama’s support is around 50 percent. Start the ads, lets get this bad movie started.
