Gun sales soar again after presidential election

This news article is posted today on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The comments are rife with anti-gun libber screed and the story itself kinda/sorta makes fun of gun owners and their affinity for firearms.

Gun sales soar again after presidential election

FORT WORTH — Michael Hill has been stockpiling guns and ammunition for almost a decade. SOURCE

So, here is a post I made on The TexasFred Blog from sometime back where I ask the questions and give the answers about gun control that many on OUR side of the fence are afraid to speak of, or possibly, haven’t yet considered!

Just how much can the ~Gun Grabbers~ really do?

Other than run their heads, look stupid and scare people, just how much do the gun grabbers really think they can do? Just what can they actually accomplish?

How many gun owners are there in the United States of America?

Most estimates range between 39% and 50% of US households having at least one gun (that’s about 43-55 million households). The estimates for the number of privately owned guns range from 190 million to 300 million. Removed those that skew the stats for their own purposes the best estimates are about 45% or 52 million of American households owning 260 million guns). SOURCE

Almost half of the homes in America are gun owners according to that little statistic.

Given the fact that many of those households are at least *2 person homes* and assuming that they are quite likely to have more than one gun per household, I would say that these are conservative figures.

Suppose the current Attorney General, Eric Holder, were to issue an edict ordering ALL Americans to turn in their guns? Suppose *The One* forces our lawmakers into reinstating the AWB? Suppose Obama and Holder decide to enter a period of Totalitarianism and take full control of the citizens of this nation?

Who is going to enforce this edict? The BATF?? The FBI?? Maybe the Army or the National Guard? Maybe State, County/Parish or Local police??

I wouldn’t put it past the FBI or BATF to try, they are nothing more than Federal automatons anyway. They will blindly follow the orders of *The One* and sacrifice themselves in the process.

Our Army and National Guard, as well as our police forces, are made up of regular, every day *Joe’s* and *Jane’s*, folks just like you and me. They work, they live, they have families, they pay taxes and they are just all around plain folks. Most of them are *sport* shooters. Many of them are hunters. Many of them have friends and families that are shooters and hunters, people that are simply *sportsmen*.

I have absolutely NO faith of any kind when it comes to the depravity of our federal government and their minions in suits at the various *Alphabet* Agencies! None!

I do, on the other hand, have great faith in our soldiers and police officers, and their desire to stand by the American people, their homes, their families and friends! I do have the greatest confidence that they will honor their oath to ‘defend against ALL enemies, both foreign AND domestic’. I have total faith that our troops and law enforcement personnel will easily recognize the enemies of this nation for exactly WHO, and WHAT they are.

But suppose they don’t? What are they going to do with roughly 100 MILLION Americans that are gun owners and users? People that have absolutely NO intention of giving those weapons up? As our forefathers said in their day, “Live FREE or DIE”, “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately” and more recently, “Death before dishonor”.

The time is rapidly approaching America. Do we sit idly by? Do we engage in some pacifist type of peaceful protest in support of the 2nd Amendment by sacrificing ourselves to the fools on point in D.C. as we show our unarmed support for the 2A? Or do we stand as FREE men and women and fight for our freedom once again? Fight against those that DO intend on disarming this nation and taking us from being citizens to subjects?

My personal view is this: ‘I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death’, and given the fact that our military has taken so long to almost pacify Iraq, and has yet to pacify Afghanistan, nations approximately the size of Texas, if WE, The People don’t lay down and roll over, if WE, The People don’t willingly lay down our guns, HOW IN THE HELL is any of this going to happen to the gun owners of the U.S.A.? The asshats in D.C. need to remember who they work for, We, The People put them in office, We, The People can damn sure remove them from office too!

These are serious points to ponder and I hope this post generates much thought and many comments!

An addendum: In my opinion; if Texas is to ever be a truly FREE Republic we must cut ties with the United States and remove the LIBERAL mind set from Texas itself.

If that means secession is the solution, then let the secession process begin in earnest!

For those who think it’s not coming in Obama’s second term, I suggest you re-read TF again.

Attended a SAXET gun show yesterday at the local fairgrounds. Arrived about 9:30 am and event was wall to wall people. Folks around here trust the feds as far as they can throw them. Will be a blood bath if Obama ever tries to outlaw and/or confiscate guns in this nation. The 2nd Amendment will prevail no matter what.

  3. NativeSon says:

Just returned from a large gun show in downtown Dallas-VERY well attended-THOUSANDS in attendance-when I left, NOT A SINGLE PERSON HAD BEEN SHOT/KILLED!!! So much for “guns kill people”….

    • TexasFred says:

Yeah but the media will NEVER advertise that part…

      • NativeSon says:

It was “funny” because we had taken a friend (who is about to get into the gun culture) and he remarked after we had been there a couple of hours, “although there are so many people here, everyone is polite, saying ‘excuse me’ and ‘pardon me’…” I told him everyone there was “normal” although one will NEVER hear that reported by the lamestream media…

        • BobF says:

An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life”….Robert Heinlein

  4. Robert says:

Gun control since the 80′s has been baby steps. If they came out and outright banned guns in one fell swoop a revolution would occur. It would be an epic war and the feds would lose that fight. BUT if you do it in small increments it becomes okay.

Look at CA for the best example of time+Regulation=Ban. First it was a minor thing like registration, then it was magazine sizes, then it was certain types, then it became tests, then its number of them you can purchase, the next one will kill AR style, then it will be handguns over 9mm. Then it will be LEO’s only if the CA folks have their way. BABY STEPS… (Not exactly sure of the order, but the steps are accurate)

The fact is NOW, when a state or city gets their 2nd amendment rights it is celebrated as a victory. That alone should send chills down your spine. When we allow them to weaken our rights its a parallel move that strengthens the criminals ability to make us victims. Living in a society without guns would be great, just let me know when the military/LEO’s and criminals turn theirs in and I’ll do the same.. Until then, keep your damn hands off my firearms or my ability to procure the best of them.

  5. Katie says:

The best examples of what becomes a city when there is strict gun control laws is Chicago and Detroit come to mind. There have been over 800 murders in Chicago so far this year and Detroit is a lawless city. No police, no protection for the citizens and guns are forbidden.

That is what Obama and crew want us to be. Helpless and downtrodden.

I will not list my weapons here, let us just say they are enough for me to defend myself.

    • Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Katie, helpless and downtrodden for WHOM to step in as Savior to All?

Correct. The same US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that is taking away the 2nd Amendment.

  6. sdkar says:

Proposed scenario when it is declared all guns must be collected by the federal govt.

    KNOCK KNOCK…

    Who’s There?

This is the (fill in the blank) agency and we are here to collect all of your registered firearms.

All gee, you guys shoulda got here 6 months ago. You see, I went on a hunting and fishing trip up in Oregon and took all my guns with me as I was gonna shoot all of em. Would you believe of all things to happen, my boat flipped over and sunk and I lost EVERYTHING. Darn shame I tell you. What’s that? Which lake? Hmmmmm, name was, gosh, I forgit, cradle lake or something like that. Real deep one, I can tell you that. I tried to swin down and save my stuff, but I just could get to em.

Anyway, after that, with the jobs all gone and money bein tight and all, I only had enough money to buy me a few vote obama yard sign to put in my front yard and never done got around to gittin more money to replace my guns and stuff.

Anyway, I’m awlful sorry about you fellers having to come out here to see me like this and I would love to help as I am an honest to goodness American and I obide by da law.

You guys take care, I’ll see you around I’m sure.

That is how that would go I am sure. How is it if this ever happened would it be any different when the redcoats started collecting Americans guns? How is it not the same when the Nazi’s started taking citizens weapons from them, for their own safety of course.

Cold Dead Hands come to mind.

Yesterday, drove into Dallas, TX and attended a huge “Gun Show” at Market Hall.
1500 tables. Brisk sales. A few blacks in good clothes and respectful.
The intelligent ones or maybe suppliers to their masses in the Dallas area.
Saw a few friends, sat with them at their tables for awhile.
    Didn’t but a thing, didn’t need to.
I like the smaller shows, like the up-coming Tyler show.

For the folks who do not live in Texas, the Union troops of the 1865 Civil War, NEVER, again,,,NEVER were able to enter TEXAS, as an attacking force.
They tried many times, but were always defeated.
    PERIOD.
Only after the South surrendered, the Union troops were allowed to land their troop ship at Galveston, and then marched North up through Texas.
The federal “re-construction”(carpetbaggers) was not kind to Texas, and this has never ever been forgotten,,,,,,EVER.
God Bless the USA,,,,,,, but NEVER fuck with Texas.
