2 rockets hit Israel-Gaza border town during Obama visit

Israeli police say no injuries have been reported after two rockets slammed into an Israel-Gaza border town during President Obama’s first visit to the country.

A police spokesperson tells Fox News one of the qassam rockets landed in a yard of a home in the city of Sderot in Southern Israel and authorities are searching for the other, which they suspect landed in an open field.

Obama was miles away in Jerusalem at the time, preparing to visit the Israel Museum, where he inspected the Dead Sea Scrolls, which highlight the Jewish people’s ancient connection to the land that is now Israel. Obama arrived in the West Bank city of Ramallah for talks with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at around 11 a.m. local time.

He is not bringing a new plan to relaunch peace talks, but in meetings with the Palestinians and a speech to Israeli students later in the day, he will appeal to both sides to halt unilateral actions that make negotiations more difficult. Fox News

Do you suppose Barack Obama has had his eyes opened by this? Do you suppose he has ANY idea of what the Palestinians are all about now?

No, I don’t think so either, but it would be great if he did.

As a presidential candidate in 2008, Obama visited the border town, which is frequently targeted by rocket attacks from the nearby Gaza Strip. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Apparently, even in 2008 the Palestinians knew who their friend was. They didn’t hit the town with rockets while Obama was there, much like they didn’t fire rockets at the area where Obama was visiting.

Over the past decade, Gaza militants have fired thousands of rockets and mortar shells at Israel, prompting Israel, with considerable U.S. assistance, to develop its Iron Dome missile defense system, which it credits with intercepting hundreds of rockets.

Over the past decade Bush and Obama have both exerted a lot of pressure on Israel to NOT strike back and to NOT destroy the Palestinians. Much to the amazement of many the Israelis actually abided by those requests as they acquiesced to U.S. pressure.

Immediately after his arrival in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured an Iron Dome battery at Ben Gurion International Airport in a vivid display of U.S. security assistance to Israel.

I have a great deal of respect for Benjamin Netanyahu, he is a warrior, he has proven himself to be a man of great restraint, but the fact remains, he IS a warrior and I am of the opinion that Netanyahu will sooner than later run out of patience and do what the Israelis are known for; hit back, and hard. Of course when they do the world will once again blame Israel for bombing the Palestinians back into the stone age.

Wouldn’t it be great to have a leader, a President that has a background like that? A man that has actually *been there* and knows what the troops are up against, in person, not just some clown that’s nothing more than a community organizer that wants to disarm his people?

Netanyahu is the first Israeli prime minister born in Israel after the founding of the state. Netanyahu joined the Israeli Defense Forces during the 1967 Six-Day War, and became a team leader in the Sayeret Matkal Special Forces unit. He took part in many missions, including Operation Gift (1968) and Operation Isotope (1972), during which he was shot in the shoulder. He fought on the front lines in the Yom Kippur War in 1973, taking part in Special Forces raids along the Suez Canal, and then leading a commando assault deep into Syrian territory. He achieved the rank of captain before being discharged. Netanyahu served as the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations from 1984 to 1988, member of the Likud Party, and was Prime Minister from June 1996 to July 1999. SOURCE

As said, I respect Netanyahu, I wish there were some way he could do what it is that he knows MUST be done, what has got to be done in the Middle East if Israel is to survive.

It seems like every time I write about Israel I get *hate mail* in the in-box, people asking me HOW I can side with Israel. Well, it’s very simple; I believe that the Jewish people are quite correct in what they are doing; I believe that Israel belongs to the Jews and I believe they have a Divine Right to defend Israel and to be left in peace!

What a unique idea, leaving the Israelis in peace, you see, I am also of the opinion that if left alone and allowed to live their lives the Israelis would allow others to live as they see fit. It’s kind of funny how that works isn’t it? Others want to force their views, opinions and lifestyles off on YOU but all of a sudden you are the bully, the aggressor if you stand for your rights and slap your attackers down.

Yes, I DO support Israel, and I support FREEDOM and the right to be left alone, allowed to live your life in peace, but I also support the right to blast an attacker to HELL!

You would think the enemies of FREEDOM would have caught on to that by now…

Twice Israel has gone into Gaza to clean it up. And twice Obama demanded they stop. How many rockets have to fall before Israel decides to wipe the bastards off the maps.

I watched on the news yesterday how Israel is building fences along it’s borders with Syria and now Egypt. I shook my head as I thought that Israel knows and does what needs to be done to protect its citizens from invaders but our leaders in Washington won’t do it on our Southern borders even though we’re under a full assault. We need a president and leader like Bibi.

    Fred,

I echo the same sentiments of both Katie and Bob, and agree with all of you. Bibi is a real man, while Bobo is a fruitcake chomping chump! I would enjoy having a chance to chat with Bibi; he’d have some great stories on how God performed miracles. I happened to have had the opportunity on several occasions to chat with the late Israeli Brigadeer General Shimon Erem, as he had been an expert contact on the happenings in Israel. It’s nice knowing that Bibi served under General Erem. General Erem often spoke highly of Bibi when he told a group of us some of his war stories. We need a real man like Bibi leading, not a fruitcake chomping chump with a Big Birdbrain sidekick.

I’m sitting here listening to Obammie speaking in Israel… The Israelis are eating it up, lots of applause, lots of cheering… If the people of Israel are that damned STUPID I may have to reconsider MY support OF Israel…

I like what I’m reading above. Texas Fred & Katie have right.
I cheered when I saw what Israel did to the terrorists at Antibe after the Olympic Village massacre and I keep hoping that Netanyahu will follow suite! It’s time. He’s no wimp and why he is wasting his time with the”Cluster—- in chief”. I gag every time I see B.O. do the chicken dance down the stairs from Air Force One. Someone should set it to the “Chicken Dance” tune, then at least we could get a few laugh.

Anyone watching the situation in the Middle East, especially when it concerns Israel, needs to understand one thing. The people who hate and despise Israel so much that they have included a “destroy Israel” clause in their charters understand only one thing; FORCE!. If Israel did not maintain a strong military and express their willingness to use said military in a forceful manner, whenever it is needed, I doubt they would be in existence today. Imagine, if you will, a Middle East without the big stick of the Israelis threatening violence if those fools get too far out of hand. That’s not a pleasant thought, to say the least, but they know what will happen if they get too carried away with their so-called holy war. Any nation who is willing to slap Israel in the face should be ready to face the consequences.

  7. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

I’d wager that one blasted USSS Suburban turned into shrapnel would be enough to convince the president of only one thing: that he never would visit Israel personally again. He’d still continue to push for Palestine.

The only reason our idiot in chief is over there was to change the topic as his poll numbers are tanking. Fast and furious breaches again in the news. Sequester a dud, no where to go but down and try and save the Jewish vote as best he can.

    Damned muslims were off target…

    Just sayin’ …
