Gun control backers: Senate defeat won’t stop us

Obama Pissed OffWASHINGTON (AP) - One day after the demise of gun control legislation, Senate supporters of the measure vowed to try again, while a leading opponent accused President Barack Obama of taking the “low road” when he harshly criticized lawmakers who voted against key provisions.

“When good and honest people have honest differences of opinion about what policies the country should pursue about gun rights…the president of the United States should not accuse them of having no coherent arguments or of caving to the pressure,” said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.

The fate of the bill was sealed in a string of votes on Wednesday, when Republicans backed by a small group of rural-state Democrats rejected more extensive background checks for gun purchasers and also torpedoed proposed bans on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

The Senate delivered its verdict four months after a shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., left 20 first graders and six educators dead. The tragedy prompted Obama to champion an issue that Democrats had largely avoided for two decades, and that he himself ignored during his first term in the White House. SOURCE

Obama Hypocrisy

Is it just me and my intense dislike of the bed-wetting anti-gun cabal, Barack Obama, his supporters and all of those on the Left that don’t understand what *shall not be infringed* means or am I correct in saying that the Left, Obama, his supporters, the anti-gun cabal and quite a few others in high office are nothing more than what I like to call hypocrites?

The Libtards like to preach about their tolerance and how they are for freedom and so forth but they want to deprive American gun owners of their God-given rights to keep and bear arms.

I don’t know about you but in my mind that equates to HYPOCRISY.

Though the gun control bill was moribund for the foreseeable future, the Senate approved two minor amendments on Thursday. One by Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., cutting aid to state and local governments that release information on gun owners, was approved 67-30. Another by Sens. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., bolstering federal mental health programs passed 95-2.

This *federal mental health* thing could become a very slippery slope.

Don’t take me wrong, I don’t want to see guns in the hands of *crazies*, no one in their right mind would; but WHO is going to determine the sanity of an individual gun owner?

I have bought a few guns over the years and have always filled out the proper paperwork for the criminal background check. I have never been denied the purchase of a gun, but this *mental health* thing is either going to have to become a federal registry of ALL people that are judged to be mentally unfit to own guns or the government is going to have to place a psychologist in ALL businesses that sell, buy or trade guns.

I think we ALL know, the psychologist thing isn’t going to happen, so, that leaves us with the possibility of a new federal registry that has a stored database of ALL citizens that have ever received any psychiatric or psychological care, in ANY way.

So, let’s assume that John Doe had some marital issues once upon a time and he sought treatment from a mental health provider; is John Doe now disqualified to own a gun?

How about all these stories we’re hearing about Veterans and the V.A. asking those that are receiving treatment for PTSD about whether or not THEY own guns? And then we hear about Vets being placed on some *list*that would deprive them of gun ownership.

Personally, I have heard these stories about the V.A. and this gun list thing but I haven’t seen it happen and I have several friends that are combat Vets and have been diagnosed with PTSD, yet they were accepted to positions in Law Enforcement, or some that have been able to obtain their concealed handgun license.

Some of the *stories* about guns, the V.A., Veterans and denial of gun ownership are so far-fetched that I have to wonder; are they merely stories? Do they have any credibility?

Cornyn said he agreed with Obama that Wednesday had been a shameful day but added it was because of the president’s own comments, rather than the events on the Senate floor.

“He could have taken the high road…instead he chose to take the low road, and I agree with him it was a truly shameful day.”

I don’t know what got Cornyn so fired up but I am glad it happened. There was a time when I was highly critical of Cornyn, but he made a HARD RIGHT TURN!

The Libtards will NOT give up, their hatred of guns and freedom is strong, all WE can do is keep on fighting and sending as many Conservatives to the Senate and House as we possibly can!

Of course they’ll be back. They won’t stop.

Next up for bid: an EO from the White House because, after all, Obama rules by Executive Order Fiat.

You can be damned sure that draft already exists.

Obama is so furious over this. Democrats control the Senate and he controls the Democrats. But the voters control the Senators when they want to, especially if they plan to run for reelection in a Red State.

I have a feeling the upcoming immigration bill will go down the same path.

Now that Obama has “successfully lost” his campaign for new gun control laws, let’s step back one or two feet and take a look at what he actually did.

As usual for him, he did not submit any proposals of his own. As usual for him, he spent his time campaigning on the subject, sloganeering, and using the victims of gun violence to bolster his “case.” What we saw him doing DURING the gun-control debate will no intensify AFTER the debate and vote is taken.

He will use the issue as a campaign fund raiser issue. He will send out letters and make campaign stops blaming the “gun lobby” and telling folks how he has to fill the coffers of the democrats in order to level the playing field against those terrible lobbyists from the NRA, GOA, etc. Never mind that the legislation was drafted the counsel for the CCRKBA, a member of that same gun lobby.

This is how Obama works. He doesn’t spend political capital for nothing. If he cannot get the votes, he turns it into campaign cash. As “Deepthroat” said so many years ago, “Follow the money.”

Waiting for Barry Soetero’s reply,,,where he will try and hamstring us with exectutive-orders.
Black Bastard not worth spit to me.

I, for one, am sick to death of hearing gun owners and advocates of the 2nd Amendment portrayed as evil and shameful people. The lies and misinformation used by Obama and his ilk are so obvious, yet they continue their tact. How did we get so far away from the Constitution that a basic right guaranteed by the Bill of Rights is under such attack. It is absolutely maddening.

I guess that’s my one rant for the day.

    Further, it’s confirmed:

    See this now.

    It’s here.

Just the first salvo. Just waiting for the executive orders to follow. Poor Barry. He knew it wasn’t going anywhere, but I agree, this mental HeAlth thing is worrisome. A way of disarming many veterans.

  8. sdkar says:

Damn good analogy…Islam in the hands of a few crazy people is dangerouse and leads to numerous deaths. Therefore, we should remove islam from all people because if it saves just ONE LIFE…it is worth it. Think of the children….

  9. BARR says:

But ya’ all don’t need that many…

If highly trained police officers fired hundreds, if not thousands of shots at two terrorists, and only managed to kill one and wound the other, how can they say that we don’t need more than 7 to 10 shots (or 2 from Biden’s double barreled shotgun) to protect our families from vicious home invading thugs?
