Colorado shooting hits state still trying to recover
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) – A Colorado high school student with an apparent grudge against a teacher wounded a classmate with a shotgun before killing himself, chilling a state that’s still trying to make sense of mass shootings at Columbine High School and an Aurora movie theater. SOURCE
Yet another senseless act of violence committed in a school, with a gun.
So far the anti-gun crowd has NOT come out *blasting*, pardon the pun, about how *guns are evil* and how *if no one HAD a gun…* and the nonsense you hear from them at a time like this.
The GUN did NOT do this, the GUN is an inanimate object that is incapable of acting on its own. In every case of gun violence there is a HUMAN factor that plays the main role in the equation, but for some reason THE GUN always gets the blame.
I don’t know why these young people in Colorado have engaged is so much gun violence, and in this case we may never know, at least not with any certainty; the shooter took his reasons to the grave with him.
I have my own opinion as to the *why* in so many of these cases but that idea may not be 100% accurate. I am not a psychologist and I don’t have the ability to fully, and correctly analyze the issues at hand, but I do have *opinions*.
Personally, I believe that the incredible amount of death and mayhem our children witness on a daily basis in the television shows they watch, when coupled with the mind-numbing simulated violence of their video games, along with the dismal reports that they see if they watch news programing may be, at least partially at the root of the problem.
That theory may not have played into the thinking of Karl Pierson at all. According to this next segment Pierson was a good student and an athlete but he had some strong political beliefs.
Arapahoe High gunman held strong political beliefs, classmates said
“I was wondering to all the neoclassicals and neoliberals, why isn’t the market correcting itself?” he wrote. “If the invisible hand is so strong, shouldn’t it be able to overpower regulations?”
Pierson also appears to mock Republicans on another Facebook post, writing “you republicans are so cute” and posting an image that reads: “The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ‘em Die, Climate Change: Let ‘em Die, Gun Violence: Let ‘em Die, Women’s Rights: Let ‘em Die, More War: Let ‘em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on?”
Carl Schmidt and Brendon Mendelson, both seniors at Arapahoe High, knew Pierson. They said he had political views that were “outside the mainstream,” but they did not elaborate. SOURCE
At the time of this writing I have found no real references to his belief about guns but his classmates have told the media that Pierson’s thinking was *outside the mainstream*.
I have NO idea what the *mainstream* mindset of a high school student in Colorado might be. It was also said that Pierson was, “was an outspoken kid about what he believed and a good political thinker.”
Obviously his political thoughts didn’t run in the Conservative direction.
And then you have people like this idiot.
Seagoville man arrested for threats towards high school students
SEAGOVILLE, TX — A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday for making terroristic threats regarding at “mass murder” at Seagoville High School.
Jeffrey Holmes was taken into custody for a Facebook post saying he was “homicidal and suicidal” and there “might just be a mass murder going to take place” that will be “worse than Virginia Tech.” SOURCE
There’s always some MORON that had *Mommy* or *Daddy* issues, or something.
We had one like that here in Rowlett a while back. He went on Facebook posting pics of himself with a gun but posted accompanying text that stated that he was not *right*, his thinking was messed up and he felt like going out and shooting people.
In all probability he was just running his mouth, looking for some *attention* I believe.
Well, he GOT some attention; the Rowlett Police picked him up, interviewed him and turned him over to some sort of psychiatric clinic that admitted him for 2 or 3 days. They kept him until it was *supposedly* determined that the guy wasn’t a *danger*, he was just goofy.
In any case, once an online threat or a public threat is made, it is best to let the Police know of that threat and let them handle the situation. When lives are at stake you just can’t take any chances.
The bottom line to all of this is; people like Karl Pierson not only hurt their victims, the victims family and their community, they hurt LEGAL and SANE American gun owners.
Libs, anti-gun groups and bleeding-heart MORONS hate guns and they blame guns, as well as LEGAL and SANE gun owners for every occurrence of gun violence in this nation. The left doesn’t realize that those acts of violence are committed by an incredibly small percentage of LEGAL American gun owners, and most likely ones that have lost their sanity. I DO believe that there is a gross loss of sanity in ANYONE that would take up a gun to do evil and commit murder, I just don’t see that as the action of a person that is in command of themselves and their thinking.
Criminals don’t give a damn about numbers and they don’t get their guns at a gun shop. The Libbers need to pull their heads OUT of their collective asses and take a breath of FRESH AIR and take a look at reality.
The fact of the matter is this; LEGAL and SANE gun owners don’t go around killing people and insane people are NOT supposed to be in possession of guns. Maybe someone in the insane persons family needs to make the call to authorities and throw them a *heads up*.
