Republican leaders caught in crossfire of Haley-Trump feud

Nikki Haley

S.C. Governor Nikki Haley

BALTIMORE – Congressional Republican leaders found themselves caught Thursday in the middle of a mounting feud over South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s criticism of Donald Trump, complicating their efforts to ease party divisions and craft a legislative agenda for the year.

Hill Republicans are meeting at a retreat in Baltimore to hammer out their 2016 priorities, including on health care and national security. But they’ve also had to weigh in after Haley, during the official GOP response to the State of the Union address, cautioned Americans about following “the angriest voices” on immigration, a reference to Trump’s hardline views on the issue.

Haley later made clear she indeed was referring to Trump — spurring rhetorical reprisals from the Republican front-runner and leading conservative figures. SOURCE

In all the years I have been involved in political commentary, in all of that time I have come to one conclusion; the Democrats became Socialists, the GOP became the Party of Reagan and then, not long after Reagan was gone, they too took a hard LEFT turn and started down the road to becoming the party of Dem Lite before they accelerated themselves into being nothing more than a mirror image of the Democrats and all the things Conservative American hate.

Now here’s the one thing about Conservatism I just don’t understand; how is it that when it’s convenient nearly ALL of the GOP calls Conservatism the way to go and claims to be a group of solid Conservatives and then, as soon as the election is over, damned near ALL of them revert right back to being Dem Lite, Socialists, go along to get along panderers that haven’t got the guts to fight for what is RIGHT in this country?

And WHY do We The People keep on electing these slugs of humanity?

The GOP is the enemy of Conservatism just as much as the Dems are, and I say this with a clear conscience, BOTH Parties seem to be united in efforts to take America into the abyss of Communism, Socialism or Marxism and the fall into that abyss is picking up speed.

“During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation,” Haley said in her Tuesday response. “Some people think that you have to be the loudest voice in the room to make a difference … Often, the best thing we can do is turn down the volume.”

Trump and conservative pundits fired back.

The GOP does NOT want Trump to become their candidate, they want to see him go in favor of an idiot like Jeb Bush or a wimp like Ben Carson.

Donald Trump is too bold, too brash and too plain spoken for the GOP and especially for those wimpy-assed RINOs and the Democrats that are always crying about HOW people like Trump, and YOU and me, are always so angry and are always blubbering about us being RACISTS and BIGOTS simply because it fits the commentary of the Left and the ignorance it encompasses.

The GOP is going to cost this nation everything that we have and everything we can ever hope to be unless we stop them dead in their tracks and elect a man of substance and courage, Donald J. Trump.

And for what it’s worth; Trump can’t do it alone. We have to give him a Congress and Senate stocked with Conservatives, not RINOs and Dem Lite.

We need to vote out every Senator, Congressman and RINO state governor holding office, place NEW and Conservative people in their place and give Donald Trump all the support we possibly can, then, if Trump fails, it’s on him, but only if WE do our part.

Fred, People had better wake up or the second coming of Hussein Obama is just around the corner..

Clinton may be in prison, but the left won’t give a crap..

  2. Ron Stabb says:

Nikki Haley, the Republicans answer to Hillary Clinton. I swear to God, the Republicans will find a way to chase away the best thing to come along since Reagan.

Trump will quit this party quicker than Haley had the Confederate flags removed if this continues.

At this point I will vote for Trump regardless of his party affiliation but I doubt enough others will do the same.

Then we will be stuck with that fat-ass lying pig.

  3. BobF says:

If Trump is elected, he’s going to fill cabinet positions with the most qualified people he can find. He’s a businessman and knows that experience and qualifications is what leads to success, not political paybacks and favors. You see, the party hacks won’t get the positions they’re hoping for. We’ll most likely see Ambassadors with foreign business experience instead of wealthy party socialites and playboys in those positions. America will know just who her enemies are and we’ll have people in positions to take care of the problem.

Speaking of Congress. Many RINO’s and Democrats will loose their congressional seats. I believe Americans will finally see career politicians for what they are and kick their butts out of office. We may even get Constitutional Term Limits passed for Congress.

  4. Wayne says:

The debates are over. I watched and waited for some earth shattering, insult trading personal attacks and it turned out to be quite mellow. I have to say that Donald Trump made the most sense to me. I still like Ted Cruz as VP. He would give Donald some Constitutional credibility. All the rest are wannabees. They will get into office and take orders from the shadow government. I do believe there are sinister forces that control the current regime. One thing I heard and don’t understand is why the defense of the muslims. For all the people who are supposed to be well educated, I’ll bet none of them ever read the koran. They have no clue.

  5. Richard says:

I havefour letters - questionaires actually - from the Republican National Committee.
    One is a political Profile
    Two are a platform survey
One is a presidential strategy survey

    They are all yes/no questions.
Should be easy. But it’s not.

They are all basically “do you support what we have been doing” questions.
And, of course, a plea for contributions.

They ask if I think Republicans should reduce wasteful spending. (I do)

They want me to agree that we should have drug testing for welfare recipients,
but don’t ask if I would support that same standard for elected officials. (I would in a heart beat).

They ask if I would support cuts in excess expenditure by reducing welfare payments, but don’t ask if I would want to cut subsidies to put ethanol in gasoline. (I do).

They ask if I think ObamaCare (they spelled it that way) should be repealed - AND REPLACED WITH A LESS COSTLY PLAN???? (I think government should get out of the health business and investigate WHY health care costs so much).

They asked how confident am I that the economy will improve next year - while the markets collapse all around the world.

They asked if I would vote for the republican candidate - regardless of who it is?

    Who are these people?

I really just want to take a big black marker and write TRUMP on them and send them back.

I think the Grand Old Party would rather see America burn to the ground rather than let Donald Trump take the helm.

I think you’re very correct… I too believe that the Grand Old Party would let America burn to the ground rather than see Donald Trump take the helm…

  6. dekare says:

I agree with the above, I am going to vote for Trump or Cruz if they are the nominee. If neither of them are, then I will write in Trump. My guess is that if Trump or Cruz get passed over, it will be for Bush or Rubio. Both of them are stinking RINO’s through and through. I will NOT hold my nose like I did in the last two elections, and simply choose the lesser of two evils. If my country is going to go to hell in a hand basket, it will be at the hands of my enemy, and not a turncoat claiming to be conservative. I will do my small molecular part in telling the GOP that they need to start representing ME, or I will never cast vote in their direction ever again.

I do NOT want to go along to get along. I do NOT want a big tent, I do NOT want compromise. The commies never do these things. I still remember obama’s arrogant smile as he stated to the world “I WON” when asked to compromise. Or how he told the world about his pen and his phone, and how he will use it if the GOP doesn’t do EXACTLY as he says. The budget compromise was sickening. So, screw compromise.

Compromise is where two people argue over whether or not to beat me up. In the end, they agree to simply punch me in the face. How does that work out in my best interest. Am I supposed to be happy when my representative in govt tells me how he looked out for my best interest while I sit there with a broken and bloody nose, two black eyes, and a missing tooth. Because that is what compromise is, a resolution where the voter is going to get his assed kicked, and they two parties are simply arguing over just how bad the ass kicking will be. Screw that. I want a politician that is going to say to the other side, you are NOT going to hurt my constituency, and I will stop you any way I can. That is what We The People want.

Yet this concept is lost on our GOP and for the life of me, I can not grasp why they do not get it.

Also, why are our politicians trying to figure out what to do to get this country back on its feet? Reagan gave the clearest example of what to do. He did it, and it worked out wonderfully. America saw the greatest economic boon (or is it boom) under his command, our domination over our enemies was clear, the world either respected or feared us, and Reagan will or already has gone down in history as one of the most effective and beloved president of all time. No need to re-invent the wheel here. Just do what he did. But nope, we need to try socialism. These idiots are like Bullwinkle trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat. They keep trying, and telling us, “This time for sure”, but they always get it wrong. And every time they fail, we suffer.

The problem is, that there is no downside for politicians when they fail. It’s We The People that take it in the shorts when they mess up. Politicians, whether they fail or not, ALWAYS leave office wealthy. How is that? They spend MILLIONS to get a job making barely low six figures. Who does that unless there is some huge payday in the plan?

So, give me Trump. I am sure no one can do worse than obama. If the GOP puts up Trump, and he screws it up, I’ll eat my words and never say another thing again about politics. I have confidence in Trump. I have to ask, what does the multi-billionaire want out of life. What does the man who has everything…WANT? Legacy. Trump wants to leave his mark on this world. He wants the accolades of a great president. He wants his face on our money, a memorial in DC, a spot on the stage in the Hall of Presidents at Disney World. He wants to be beloved by all. And to do that, he has to do all of the things he says he will. Trump is all about capitalism. And what is capitalism? It’s someone getting everything they could want and more, but in order to get this, they have to give others, something of equal value. It’s two people trading something that each other wants. Trump wants worldwide respect and love, and in order to get it, he as to Make America Great Again. It’s in his nature, in his blood. So, I say let’s take him up on his offer. If that’s that deal he is willing to give us, the I same, Let’s Make A Deal. Give The Donald four years, and if he does all he says and more, then four more. Then, Cruz can have his turn. Maybe I am wrong, but I have to trust someone. Might as well be someone who doesn’t owe anyone but We The People if he makes it to the whitehouse. Every other candidate has a IOU to pay if they win. Which means, that IOU gets paid first, before I get what I want from my president. I don’t like that. I want a president beholden to the voters, and NOT the donors or special interests.

My biggest concern right now is what obama will do in what I HOPE is his last year in office. What mess will me make of this country? Will he start a race war? Will he truly try to take our guns? Will he actually leave the whitehouse? That is my worry.

  7. Petermc3 says:

Nickki Haley had already squandered, in my opinion, any political capital she may have earned thus far during her time in office when she spit on the Confederate Flag. And now her post State of Confusion Speech speech was nothing more than apologizing for the supposed republican role in the great political, racial, social and cultural divide that was created by Obama, his street thugs and his administration. She bowed to the left lower than than Obama did while apologizing to the muslim world for an America which he characterized as an arrogant bully during his Middle East apology tour back in 2009. We need a Stalin-like purge (without the killing and bloodshed) of the republican party. The RINO’s need to be put on a game preserve in Kenya where they can fight for survival with the elephants.
    TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP!

  8. dekare says:

I have a question, can Donald Trump, after winning the presidency, start his own party? maybe do a bang up good job where he is loved and praised, and after four years, run for re-election as a new party? (the Patriot Party for example). People would vote for him, based on his performance, it would be a big middle finger to the GOP and how they treated him, and establish a new party, where the GOP goes the way of the WHIGS, and in order to be a member and run for politics, you have to pledge loyalty to We The People.

    Just wonderin.

  9. Wayne says:

In 1963 Congress was informed of the 45 goals for the communist takeover of America. Look it up and read it. Then think about how it applies to us in the current election cycle. It made the hair on my neck stand up.

    • the unit says:

Wayne you’re a resident of Florida now, Southwest coast I think.
      Perhaps you’ll find this interesting.
Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.
At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen.

I have a thing about wondering where are they now.
      Patricia Nordman
Patricia was born on August 26, 1934 and passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.
Patricia was a resident of DeLand, Florida at the time of her passing.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 26th at 3pm at the
      Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand.

Can you imagine being her and seeing the goals accomplished since that inclusion in the RECORD?

  10. TexasFred says:

OK, so we have a New York nigger calling us names because we’re American Conservatives, not at all unexpected… Tonight I dropped the hammer on a turd from England for the same reasons I dropped the hammer on Questionman… And at least Questionman is an American, or so I assume, even if he is an Obama worshiping slug of humanity…

One of these days the Liberal turd suckers will catch on, I don’t care what they think or have to say, it won’t be posted here…

  11. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

If you vote people out, you’d better do it now because demography is about to take over the United States on EVERY level.

This precedent was set when Obama was elected TWICE. As a major Free Cheeser he proved that America is all about its own Free Cheese.

Let’s face it, Caucasoids are a dying breed demographically. Blacks will vote Cheese, Mexicans will vote Cheese, Asians will mostly vote Cheese. And Muslims will vote for the Demorats because Dems/Leftists will willingly provide the Cheese and the major appeasement and excuses necessary for Islam to gain a toehold on the US and flourish.

This country is on the cusp of undergoing a major gut-twisting revolution and I wish I could be assured I knew it was going to be positive. I am not so assured.
