White House planning more auto financial aid

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration was finishing work on a plan to give more financial aid to two Detroit automakers in return for tough cost-cutting measures that will ensure the companies’ survival.

President Barack Obama’s auto industry task force was expected to offer additional aid to General Motors Corp. (GM) and Chrysler LLC while setting firm deadlines for the companies to get concessions from their stakeholders.

GM and Chrysler, which employ about 140,000 workers in the U.S., have already received $17.4 billion in government loans to survive the economic downturn and the worst decline in auto sales in 27 years. GM is seeking another $16.6 billion, while Chrysler wants $5 billion more.

With the companies running out of money heading into April, any short-term aid would help the auto manufacturers maintain their operations while they seek concessions. Administration officials declined to comment on the plan Saturday.

What happens if their stake holders don’t concede anything? Or don’t concede enough? What happens if the UAW decides it’s ‘Our way or the highway’? Do we just keep on handing GM and Chrysler more BILLIONS of our tax dollars?

I imagine that is exactly what is going to happen. Look, I don’t have ANY use for Barack Obama, I mean none, but this financial debacle is NOT his doing, not initially. Dec. 1, 2008 Panel says US has been in recession since Dec. ‘07. We have watched our finances go from pretty good in early 2001 to IN THE TANK in late 2008. So, let me ask you, WHO was the guy in charge during those years? Who inherited an amazingly healthy economy and a rather comfortable budget surplus when he took office? Anyone??

I have pointed this out before and was told that Obama did nothing to stop the financial meltdown, so he IS culpable. Yes, to a degree he truly IS culpable, but just which way did your Senators vote on the initial bailout? I know how both of mine voted. My wonderful RINO Senators. They voted to take this nation down the path of socialism. Oct. 3, 2008 Congress OKs historic bailout bill. Along about then was when I dropped ALL support of Sen. John Cornyn in his reelection bid and vowed that if Kay Bailey Hutchison returned to Texas to run for Governor, I would support Rick Perry, or any other viable, non bailout supporting candidate. Words I still stand by to this day!

Oct. 4, 2008 For bailout to work, housing market needs to mend
Nov. 13, 2008 Federal budget deficit hits record
Nov. 24, 2008 Government plans massive Citigroup rescue effort
Dec. 21, 2008 AP study finds $1.6B went to bailed-out bank execs

As stated above, I have NO USE for Barack Obama, but he didn’t bring this about, look at the dates. Perhaps he could have done more to stop it, but we ALL know that wasn’t about to happen with an uber-libber such as himself. If you want to know where the blame lies, look no further than your local RINO Senator and/or Congressman that was, and quite likely still is, spending money like a drunk sailor on shore leave.

And before anyone thinks I am being remiss in my duties by failing to point out that the Democrats are doing the exact same thing, I KNOW THEY ARE!! OK?? But here’s the deal, we expect that from the Dems. Democrat and fiscal conservatism are words that just don’t go together, but you see, the Dems managed to gained control over both Houses under the debacle that was the Bush administration. The administration took us into Iraq, the administration that ushered in this recession and the administration that has brought us precariously close to becoming a nation in full blown depression.

Has the Obama administration done anything to help? Why hell no they haven’t. What they have done, in my opinion is, made matters worse. They took a bad situation and multiplied it many times over, they are making debt that our grand children’s grand children will still be fighting to pay off. That is the Democratic way, and the way of the RINO. A RINO, a repulsive creature that I call ‘Dem Lite’. It’s time folks, it’s time for fiscal conservatives to raise a ruckus, it’s time to take D.C. back and do it with folks that won’t send us ALL to the poor house. In the coming year and into 2010 support only Conservative candidates and fiscally responsible ones.

We may save this nation yet. If we don’t all get locked up for Domestic Terrorism that is…

Gibbs: Deficit won’t hurt plan to cut red ink

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House says new projections of spiraling budget deficits won’t stop President Barack Obama from achieving his goals or keeping his promise to cut the country’s red ink in half within four years.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Friday that the administration is a bit more optimistic about the nation’s economic growth over the long term than congressional analysts. The congressional projections released Friday say Obama’s budget would generate deficits averaging almost $1 trillion a year over the next decade.

The Congressional Budget Office figures predict Obama’s budget will produce $9.3 trillion worth of red ink from 2010 through 2019. That’s $2.3 trillion worse than the White House predicted in its budget.

I love the Obama administration. No, really, I do!! But let me tell you WHY I love the Obama administration.

They make blogging too EASY. When the president makes a gaffe regarding the physically challenged Special Olympians of this nation, makes it on a TV program seen around the world, and you can sum up your criticism with a graphic, well, I just love the Obama administration.

That said, regarding Robert Gibbs recent blathering concerning the new projections of spiraling budget deficits and them not having ANY effect on Obama’s plans to cut the red ink in half, well, I call:

After Stimulus, GOPTrust Vows to Continue Fight

After Stimulus, GOPTrust Vows to Continue Fight

The National Republican Trust PAC that played a leading role in rallying GOP opposition to President Barack Obama’s massive stimulus bill is ready to open up a new front in its battle against the budget-busting Democratic agenda, Executive Director Scott Wheeler tells Newsmax.

“People are asking for jobs, and Obama’s offering them an extra $100 a month in their unemployment benefits,? Wheeler says. “That’s not going to help anybody. That’s not going to fix the economy.?

The National Republican Trust (an advertiser on Newsmax.com) is the nation’s third-largest political action committee. According to its statement of principles, it says it seeks to return the GOP to the principles of Ronald Reagan.

Wheeler also blasts what he terms Obama’s “very scary language? regarding the economy.

“Saying we might never recover if his trillion-dollar stimulus package isn’t passed – that’s an outrageous and outlandish statement to make,? Wheeler says. “And it is hardly befitting of a president to make such a statement.?

He tells Newsmax his organization plans several moves to advance its conservative agenda:

After Stimulus, GOPTrust Vows to Continue Fight

There are many GOOD people fighting the debacle of the Democrats, fighting it tooth and nail. I have even been able to acquire a new and productive rapport with both of my Senators it appears. They might as well accept this fact, I will blast them if I think they are wrong and support them when I think they are RIGHT.

That’s exactly what MUST be done by all REAL Republicans and Conservatives now. We must fight for everything we can, and we must fight together, against the Dems and all of their Socialist, Marxist pork and the all around BS that they are forcing on the American people.

In the sidebar of this blog is a widget that allows you to send messages directly to your Congresscritter and Senators, all you need to know is your own Zip Code, it looks everything else up for you. I have done ALL that I can do to make raising HELL with those that sit in the seats of power as easy I possibly can. Now the ball is in YOUR court.

Call your elected officials, fax them, write letter to them, email them, whatever you do, however you do it, make them painfully aware of YOUR feelings regarding their actions and votes on the various bills that come up in the Senate and House. Blast the living hell out of them if they go against the majority of their constituents, but don’t forget to praise them when they do the RIGHT thing too.

REAL Republicans and ALL Conservatives are in for a fight FOR their very lives. This nation has taken a hard LEFT turn and is on the road to disaster. The reason I stress REAL Republicans is because we’ll never have the support of the RINOs, Republicans In Name Only. They are unpredictable turncoats and traitors to all REAL Republicans and Conservatives. They can’t be trusted and MUST be removed from the halls of Congress as soon as possible. They MUST also be removed from the Republican party as well. If they want to stand with the left, let them join the Democratic party and support their friends there. They have NO friends here on the RIGHT!

There is no place on the RIGHT for RINOs, faux Conservatives and anti-Americans. Ladies and Gentlemen, the in-actions of the Bush administration, coupled with the current actions of the Obamanation have brought this nation to the brink of war. I do NOT mean war in Iraq or Afghanistan. I refer to the danger of WAR right here on American soil. War with the Islamic hordes that are dedicated to our submission or destruction, war with the ILLEGALS from Mexico and elsewhere that seek to turn this nation into a carbon copy of the 3rd world HOLE that they came from!

As I said, we are ALL in the fight OF our lives, and FOR our lives. We must fight together America, fight together and WIN. If we don’t WIN, if we don’t return this nation to solid Conservative values, and I mean SOON, there won’t be an America around in the VERY near future!

Excerpts from Senator Hutchison’s Floor Speech in Opposition of the Economic Stimulus Bill

February 13th, 2009 . by TexasFred

Excerpts from Senator Hutchison’s Floor Speech in Opposition of the Economic Stimulus Bill

“First of all, the bill was written without any Republican input. It was written in the House of Representatives by the Democrats. There were no amendments allowed. The committees were not allowed to exercise their jurisdiction on the bill there. It came to the Senate. I was on the Appropriations Committee which passed the spending part of the bill. Amendments were discouraged. The meeting lasted a couple of hours. The same thing happened on the Finance Committee, which was the tax part of the bill, and there were no amendments that were able to be hammered out. There was not an amendment process where we gave and took. And to say that Republicans had a chance to have input is really disingenuous. I do respect the President of the United States for coming and talking to Republicans. He talked to the Republican Senators. He talked to the Republican House members.

“With interest, the cost of this bill is going to be a trillion dollars. Now, people say, ‘It’s a spending bill. What did you expect?’ A spending bill? I still take a trillion dollars of taxpayer money, borrowing from the future very seriously. I think we ought to spend some time before we spend $1 trillion in a bill that is going to be off the budget, that is not in any projected budget that we have seen. It is going to add $1 trillion to the deficit.

“…the Congressional Budget Office, which is a nonpartisan arm of Congress that is supposed to give us facts without political bias, has said that most of the money in this bill is going to be spent in years three through ten. Well, a stimulus bill should inject into the economy an energy that will cause jobs to be either produced or kept, that will produce spending so that there will be something for people to make and for retailers to sell, and after we have that stimulus, which we hope would be in the private sector, and therefore permanent, then we’re going to have to deal with the deficit in years three through ten so that we don’t get into an upside-down situation where we have so much debt that either our foreign investors will not buy our debt or, if they do, the risk is so good that they increase the interest rate.

“I believe that tax relief has been proven again and again to spur the economy. President Kennedy gave tax relief and it spurred the economy and increased revenue. President Reagan — tax relief, it introduced revenue. President Bush, 2001, when we were having a rough time in our economy, the first tax cuts, it turned the stock market around and it gave us the largest increase in revenue in the history of America.

“I’m for stimulus. We all know we need stimulus. I would like tax cuts that would spur spending, not tax cuts that would be driveled out in such small amounts that no one would feel they could go out and buy something.

“How about spending on infrastructure? How about more than 17% of a $1 trillion going for infrastructure that would be jobs today for people building bridges, building highways, building things that would be clearly job creation? I had an amendment, which never made it to the floor, that said that military construction should be moved up from the Department of Defense five-year plan to three years. Military construction is money that we know we’re going to spend.

“The Department of Defense has a five-year plan. They know exactly what their priorities are. We normally take it one year at a time. Why not take the five-year plan and bring it up and do it in two or three years because we know it would be American jobs? We know it is money that we’re going to spend anyway. It would be stimulative, and it would be the right kind of spending.

“Instead, the conference cut the military spending in this bill from what passed in the Senate. The conference cut our military spending for hospitals and for Veterans Administration hospitals to increase the quality and access to health care for our veterans. Mr. President, what kind of priority is that? And they’re increasing spending to save a mouse in San Francisco that might be endangered. Mr. President, this is not a package that we can be proud to give to the American people and say, it’s worth tightening our belts to do this because it will make a difference.

“…Mr. President, this is not the right bill for the American people, and I urge my colleagues to please consider their positions and let us do this right: Tax cuts to spur spending, tax cuts to spur the opportunity for corporations and businesses to hire people, spending on infrastructure, more in military construction, not less. That would be a bill that we could support, Mr. President.?

I received this in an email from Sen. Hutchison’s press Secretary. They seem to be a lot more attentive to the concerns of their constituency right now. It breaks my heart that Hutchison didn’t come out this hard against the Wall Street Bailout, illegal immigration, a strong border fence and stronger border security!
