Iran now has 6,000 centrifuges for uranium

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that Iran now possesses 6,000 centrifuges, a significant increase in the number of uranium-enriching machines in its nuclear program, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

The new figure is double the 3,000 centrifuges Iran had previously said it was operating in its uranium enrichment plant in Natanz.

“Islamic Iran today possesses 6,000 centrifuges,” Ahmadinejad told university professors in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

The assertion that Iran has reached that goal is certain to further rankle the United States and other world powers. Washington and its allies have been demanding a halt to Iran’s enrichment out of fear it is intent on using the technology to develop weapons.

Iran vehemently denies those allegations and says it is interested in enrichment only for its nuclear power program.

To put this in the most simple terms, Iran is lying.

Iran has made their declaration, they have made their intent crystal clear, they are planning on wiping Israel OFF the map, that is their goal and that is their intent and unless Iran is stopped, they will make good on that threat.

The White House said that Iran’s pronouncement does not facilitate a resolution to the nuclear standoff.

If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were to make a direct threat against Bush the Elder I am certain that Bush the Younger wouldn’t hesitate to take immediate action against Iran.

He took us to Iraq on the idea that Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction, and as of late there was the yellow cake that was moved from Iraq.

Many of the Bush Bot crowd claimed vindication because of that yellow cake, but the yellow cake itself is NOT a WMD, it is only a seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment. I don’t believe Iraq had all the tools in place to conduct that enrichment. Iran does.

I would think that the fact that Iran does have the tools at hand to conduct uranium enrichment, that could, and likely should be considered a viable threat to the development of a true WMD, a thermonuclear device that Iran may very well have a delivery system already in place that is capable of hitting Israel.

Iran already is under three sets of U.N. sanctions for its refusal to suspend enrichment.

Yeah, that’s gonna do the trick, the old U.N. sanctions against Iran trick. Works every time. Look at how well U.N. sanctions worked in Iraq, and Darfur, and, well, anywhere else the U.N. placed sanctions.

If ever there was a nation that needed it’s potential nuclear capabilities decimated, Iran is the place, but Ahmadinejad hasn’t threatened Daddy yet, so Junior can’t do anything.

Hell, let’s face facts, Junior can’t even pronounce nuclear.

Hind sight would be better than allowing this to continue. How many years ago was it that Fred, myself, and a select few others got blasted for saying that Iran was the real enemy?

Bush has screwed up so many things… I hope he get’s this one right before he leaves office. There are reportedly a lot of Iranians that want secular government and an end to the Mullah’s regime. I think that they should be encouraged via a few Spec Op’s teams. That failing, Iran needs to be placed squarely in the cross hairs.

    Then Daddy can sleep easy…

Ahmadinejad has been looking for his martyrdom since the original Iranian hostage situation in 1979. I sure wish someone would hurry up and grant his wish and take the Mullahs with him.

Just being an old dumb schmuck from SE Texas, I admittedly don’t know a hell of a lot, but it seems to me we are constantly on somebodies Crap List because of our hubris and unfanthomed arrogance which seems to know limited or non-existent bounds. As one of the millions of American

Taxpayers that have been picking up the tabs since Lincoln’s day for our imperialism, I can readily say, are now at a point when we are tapped out. We also, because of that hubris and arrogance have wasted and ruined a hell of a lot of young lives in our attempt to be the world’s Big Hog at The Trough.

It is time we let those dependents of ours, whether they be Krauts, Japs, Koreans, Israelis, or Lower Slobbovians, stand on their own. They are all big boys now, and it’s time for them to be weaned from the teat of America’s Bounty.

Remember, war with Iran will take boots on the ground. Short of Divine Intervention, I’m not sure where those boots will come from.

6000 centrifuges and no defense system in place. Somebody has bad priorities.
