War … And rumors of War

7 killed in Afghan protests over Quran burning

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - The Interior Ministry on Wednesday said seven people were killed in clashes between Afghan security forces and protesters demonstrating against the burning of Muslim holy books at a NATO military base.

The anger over the Quran burning has sparked two days of protests across Afghanistan and tapped into anti-foreign sentiment fueled by a popular perception that foreign troops disrespect Afghan culture and Islam. The demonstrations prompted the U.S. to lock down its embassy and bar its staff from traveling. SOURCE

Muslims will KILL YOU over a slight against Islam. Just one word, one that Muslims consider to be a denigration against Allah or Mohamed and BOOM, it’s on!

Muslims will issue a Death Fatwa against a person, a group of persons, a nation, whatever the case may be, if they perceive an insult against Islam.

You can’t FIGHT that mindset. You can’t fight and change an ideology that is centuries old and based on death to those that insult Islam with a modern day version of The Crusades and a campaign to win hearts and minds.

American war reporter Marie Colvin killed in Syria

LONDON (AP) - Respected American journalist Marie Colvin, who spent decades reporting on conflicts from Sri Lanka to Syria, focusing on the suffering of women and children in wartime, died in a fierce shelling attack Wednesday in Syria.

Colvin, who was 57, was known for her courage behind the front lines and immediately recognizable for an eye patch that hid an injury suffered in a Sri Lankan ambush. She had been holed up in the besieged Syrian city of Homs. Sunday Times editor John Witherow confirmed her death during a “devastating bombardment by the Syrian army.” SOURCE

If you spend enough time in a WAR ZONE, you are eventually going to run out of luck.

Not to take away from Ms. Colvin or her work, but she KNEW the dangers she faced, and she accepted those dangers. She did her job as she saw fit and she died doing the job she had dedicated her life to.

Sadly, none of our soldiers gets an individual write-up from the media when they die defending America and for doing their job.

US troops now in 4 African countries to fight LRA

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - A top military official says that U.S. troops are now deployed in four central African countries as part of U.S. efforts against a brutal rebel group called the Lord’s Resistance Army.

Rear Adm. Brian L. Losey, the top U.S. special operations commander for Africa, said Wednesday that U.S. troops are now stationed in bases in Uganda, Congo, South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

The U.S. announced in October it was sending about 100 U.S. troops - mostly special operations forces - to central Africa to advise in the fight against the LRA and its leader Joseph Kony. SOURCE

I remember when we sent Special Forces in to Vietnam as advisors in the fight against Communism and Hồ Chí Minh.

Isn’t it amazing how history repeats itself? And how we never seem to learn the lessons that history has taught?

Deja Vu all over again. 😕

A new crusade would be appropriate. The enemy is at the gate and needs to be defeated. Islam represents evil incarnate. Need to take them out before they can get to us. Problem is that we have a muslim in the oval office.

A US General is issuing apologies for the burning of the Korans and American troops now have to have sensitivity training on how to properly handle Korans.

Military to conduct training on handling of Qurans Campaign 2012 Washington Examiner

In WWII, Brigadier General Anthony Clement McAuliffe was issued an ultimatum to surrender by the Germans at Bastogne, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. McAuliffe’s reply to the Germans was “Nuts”. In today’s PC military of not wanting to offend our enemies, General McAuliffe would be ordered to issue an apology to the Germans and conduct sensitivity training for his men, provided they survived the battle.

Two American soldiers were shot and killed by an Afghan soldier in protest of the burning of the Korans.

Obama has issued an apology to the Afghans.

Why the hell are we wasting precious blood and money on a people like that?

  3. Cary says:

One question that has been niggling at the back of my mind for a couple days - who told the Afghans that there were korans being burned inside a “secure” NATO base?

Oh, wait - I think I just figured it out. NATO believes in the liberal principle of releasing all the information all the time, right?

    Never mind.

    • BobF says:

There were Afgans who were actually doing the burning as it was trash, not classified materials…perfect place for Korans. The Afghans saw the Korans and took what they could out fo the fire and showed them to their elders.

It’s been this way since the My Lai Massacre, WE fight with *honor* and we fight by Rules of Engagement while our troops are killed by butchers…

PCness IS causing the death of this nation…

  5. Katie says:

The only apology that we should give the Afghanis should be made by one finger pointed skyward.

  6. Dick Robie says:

Well, I have been saying for years, we dont even try and understand their middle age culture.

A change of heart for me-Lets get the hell out NOW and leave them to rot in their own waste.

It is time that the treasure, maiming of US Troops and the deaths of US Troops was appreciated-and if it isnt, screw them. We should be closing our borders and protecting ourselves.

Like I said, this is a change of heart for me-we should NEVER again get into a war we are not prepared to go all out (no rules of engagement) and WIN. If we cannot do that, then we shouldnt go.

  7. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Give it time, Obama will soon say we need to enter Syria and/or put boots down there. And now we find ourselves on the African continent?

Hell, let’s just put boots in every continent, starting with Canada. With one exception: Mexico. Can’t do anything with Mexico; that might offend Mexicans.

Jesus, I swear, Paul’s Isolationism is starting to look better and better after this jerk-off.

  8. Patrick Sperry says:

We have, over the years invested heavily in advanced weapons systems. I say that it is well nigh time to play that hand.

I’m thinking MX missiles topped with Neutron warheads.

Oh yeah, we have a democrat community worker that’s a Kenyan for a CIC…
