Last jobs report before election shows economy in ‘virtual standstill’

The final monthly jobs report before Election Day offered a mixed bag of economic evidence that quickly became political putty for the presidential candidates, with the unemployment rate ticking up to 7.9 percent but the economy adding a better-than-expected 171,000 jobs.

At the same time, the number of unemployed grew by 170,000, roughly the same amount — to 12.3 million.

The October numbers allow President Obama to argue the economy is technically growing under his watch. But they also allow Mitt Romney to argue that the new jobs are not making much of a dent in the unemployment problem. Both campaigns quickly set to work putting their spin on data that, if nothing else, underscores the slow pace of the recovery.

“That’s 9 million jobs short of what (Obama) promised,” Romney said at a rally in Wisconsin shortly before noon. “Unemployment is higher today than when Barack Obama took office.”

Many believe that the real numbers regarding unemployment are much higher.

The real unemployment rate is currently at 14.6 percent, which takes into account the people that are underemployed, employed part-time, or stopped looking for work altogether, and adjusted seasonally. SOURCE

Personally, I believe the Mainstream Media and government economists are juggling the numbers, wildly juggling the numbers, in an effort to paint Barack Hussein Obama in a more positive light. I am convinced that this is the reason we don’t see the REAL figures in print media or hear the talking heads on national TV sounding off about this.

The rate was 7.8 percent the month Obama took office. “Today’s increase in the unemployment rate is a sad reminder that the economy is at a virtual standstill,” Romney said in a separate written statement. “When I’m president, I’m going to make real changes that lead to a real recovery, so that the next four years are better than the last.”

Real change? Yes indeed, we have seen some real change under Obama, change for the worse!

The economy truly IS at a standstill, which is NOT an exaggeration. Why then does Barack Hussein Obama want us to give him four more years to further stagnate the jobs growth and overall economy of this nation?

Former Bureau of Labor Statistics chief Keith Hall told Fox Business Network that at this rate, “we’re still talking nine or 10 years” before the economy gets back to normal.

We don’t HAVE 9 or 10 years to set this nation back on an even keel! America needs to get back to work NOW!

Obama has said that he just wasn’t able to get around to all of the things that HE had planned for America in his first term. He says he needs four more years to bring HIS plans to fruition.

If the stagnant economy of Obama’s first term, one in which he had a Democratic majority for the 1st two years are any indication, if the progress he has made to date is what we can expect from another 4 years, WHY would any SANE person want to give Obama another term in office?

Think about this, the storm that hit the East Coast recently is being blamed on global warming and government ignorance regarding climate change. In other words, the Democrats are using Hurricane Sandy for their political purposes.

Do you suppose the Democrats will also claim a victory in the jobs market and economy once the rebuilding starts and that rebuilding fires up the economy and increases the number of American working?

Of course they will; THAT is the duplicity of the Democrats, blame the GOP for Sandy and then take credit for the *shot in the arm* Sandy’s destruction brings to the folks in construction, disaster response and insurance business.

Meanwhile, in NJ and NY power company workers from Alabama who are trying to volunteer to assist in repairing the power system grids are turned away because they are non-union. Insanity, absolute insanity.

Can’t wait for Tuesday. If this keeps going another month, somebody please just shoot me. This has been the pettiest, silliest, most demeaning campaign I have seen in my life (and my life goes back to Truman).

Since nobody asked, I’ll tell you anyway. Here is my final prediction pending a “November surprise” of monumental proportion: Romney 303; Obama 235. It may end up closer because I have been very generous in giving PA to Romney.

    That’s an UNDERstatement.

In Fornicalia, in some counties, unemployment is TWENTY PER-CENT or HIGHER. Particularly in agricultural communities where the state has killed water for farmers, instead diverting it for FISH.
