GOP Establishment’s War on Tea Party Comes to Texas

Tea-Party-MovementThe Republican establishment’s war against the Tea Party has come to Texas. According to a report in the Dallas Morning News, “Some of Texas’ biggest business trade groups are moving to counter tea party and anti-government forces that have dominated recent Republican primaries.” SOURCE

In the spirit of full disclosure; I am not a member of any TEA Party group. I was a member of our local group, I was Vice President, but I cut my ties with the TEA Party about 3 years ago.

My leaving the TEA Party was about the way it was being run at the time, you see, when I was involved the TEA Party had a much different, more narrow, more focused and more simple platform. The TEA Party was about responsible government, not about attacking big business.

I don’t like senseless government spending; I hate to see our hard-earned tax dollar squandered on the projects of duplicitous Dems and rotten RINOs. I hate to see those dollars given away to people too lazy to get a job. I hate to see money given away in disability claims to those that are perfectly able to work and to those that believe spitting out a new baby every 10 months is a viable work skill.

Something I hate even more is seeing OUR tax dollars sent to other nations to support them and their governments, especially when their government hates the USA and everything we stand for.

I am a FISCAL Conservative and I am proud to say that!

I have been a businessman for most of my adult life and I earned a good living. I never took a government subsidy. I never took a penny from anyone that I had not earned. I hired people and I paid them a good living wage, and YES Mr. Obama; I DID BUILD MY BUSINESS, no matter what you say!

I have to say this, business in Texas is BOOMING and yet there are those, the TEA Party, which believe in cutting everything to the bone in the name of fiscal conservatism.

Apparently some of these TEA Party people have never been in business, you see, if they had they would know; you have to SPEND money to MAKE money.

Obviously there is some serious disagreement on several levels within the GOP, the Texas Conservative, movement, the TEA Party and what most are calling *establishment Republicans*.

I can’t speak for everyone in Texas but as for me; I am not a part of any anti-Ted Cruz movement and if this makes me sound as if I am, so be it, but a group of big-money interests wanting taxpayer dollars to flow into their pockets is a part of doing business in ANY environment.

If taxpayer dollars are rolling into the pockets of a group of big-money interests and said big money interests are creating more business and JOBS, if they are expanding the scope and range of business in Texas and are profiting from doing so, THAT is called BUSINESS.

Now I have to say something GOOD about the TEA Party;

On the national level, groups like the Chamber of Commerce have indicated they are about to spend $50 million to try to destroy the Tea Party, largely because the Tea Party opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants and the corporations that have broken federal immigration laws to hire them.

The fact that the TEA Party opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants and the corporations that have broken federal immigration laws to hire them is very admirable, illegal immigration has been a *Hot Button* issue on The TexasFred Blog since its inception and that was long before the TEA Party came to be.

Big business MUST be held accountable if they knowingly employ illegals and the penalties should be very severe but all big business is NOT evil, just as I have to say, the TEA Party has its good points too, but big business, the GOP, establishment Republicans, Conservatives and the TEA Party need to get their act together. Otherwise Texas could very well be turned *blue*.

The TEA Party needs to make sure their candidates are electable and haven’t done or said something that can be used against them. Candidates that make STUPID remarks need to be dumped.

Case in point; Katrina Pierson of Garland; she is challenging incumbent Rep. Pete Sessions (TX-32) for the seat he holds in the U.S. Congress.

Katrina PiersonOf course there will be those that say I don’t like her because she is black or because I’m supposedly afraid of strong women and am a misogynist. Nothing could be further from the truth! I don’t like Katrina Pierson because she was so STUPID as to refer to an injured Veteran as *DEFORMED*. You can read that entire story here; Tea party activist Katrina Pierson to challenge incumbent Pete Sessions for Congress.

I am NOT opposed to Pierson for any reason other than the fact that she is basically STUPID, at least in my opinion. You do NOT denigrate a Veteran for the way they look due to the injuries they sustained in service to this nation, but the Garland TEA Party seems to think that Pierson is just dandy and the perfect person to take on Sessions in the TEA Party campaign to unseat ALL incumbents.

As said above, not all business is evil, not ALL TEA Party ideas are bad and additionally, not ALL incumbents need to be voted out simply because they are an incumbent.

Well said, Fred! You & I walk the same path. If we cannot get our elected officials to pull together with *CONSERVATIVES* of all stripes, then not only will we lose Texas but also the *NATION* to the Dems!

Wake up people. We are fast approaching the end of our rope!!

  2. Capt Ron says:

I’m totally in agreement with you, Fred. Folks, we need to rally around common points and principles. For too long we haven’t been the masters of our destinies because of infighting. Case in point, the attack on Senator Ted Cruz in the Capitol, before and after his filibuster. This division will destroy us and our credibility. We don’t see the Democrats doing this, do we? Why? The Democrat know the damage it causes. Same thing happens in families.

  3. BobF says:

The RINO’s of the GOP would rather this country go to the dogs than support Conservatives. Republican elites supported Terry McAuliffe a Clinton Democrat over a Conservative in Virginia’s recent gubernatorial election. Former Republican Senator from Indiana, Richard Luger, is supporting Democrat senate candidates with his PAC: http://go.bloomberg.com/political-capital/2014-01-06/lugars-pac-aids-nunn-and-republican-senators-facing-primaries/

Many of the so-called Tea Party Congressmen elected on 2010 have basically been assimilated by the GOP as evidenced by their voting for the recent Murray-Ryan budget which screwed military retirees with a rusty barbed pipe…yes, I’m a military retiree.

What I plan on doing is supporting whatever strong conservative who runs in the primaries on the Republican ticket in my district. My congressman was a Tea Party congressman but she voted for the Murray-Ryan budget even though her district is heavily military with both Fort Leonard Wood and Whiteman AFB. If she ends up running for congess, I’ll send my money to other known and proven conservatives from other areas; those like Ted Cruz and Alan West, if he runs again.

Aw,,,give her a break. Probably had her “period” when her remarks were voiced.
Just what Texas needs, another one who:
    Can’t
    Understand
    Normal
    Thinking
Make a word with the above 4 caps.

  5. Steve Dennis says:

Good post Fred, I also have issues with the Tea Party but I have even bigger issues with the Republican establishment. It seems as if at time the Tea Party will endorse any candidate simply on the fact that that person is not establishment, and while that is okay the Tea Party must also vet their candidate to ensure something embarrassing will not come out during the election.

  6. LD Jackson says:

I agree, Fred. Not all big business is bad. Just as not all government is bad. There is a time and a place for everything, a mixture that will work, so to speak. If we are to place conservatives in higher positions in our government, we must make sure the candidates we endorse are able to articulate conservative positions. Without making themselves sound like the devil incarnate or someone who cares little for the people they want to represent.

  7. Steven Kennedy says:

Thank you for what you do…

  8. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Please allow me to state the obvious: the TEA Party has forgotten its roots and reason for existence.

  9. Wayne says:

Fred, I still think there is hope for the TEA party candidates that will run in ’14 because of the number of people who are independants. As I said before, the true patriot is naturally for smaller government, less regulation and fiscal responsibility. Ted Cruz is the example of a rep that truly represents his constituents.

  10. Patrick Sperry says:

Well, what can I say? Some years ago Fred, myself, and some other decent minded folks were on a forum doing what we do. Discussing politics… Mind you now, this was before the obummer was elected. None of us were happy with things, to put it mildly. Our late great friend John Basti hit it out of the park coming up with the phrase “Taxed enough Already.”

Later that caught on, and Fred as well as myself said that it would get co-opted by one major party or the other.

It started off fairly well, and, just as Fred has noted so well so many times? It got taken over; By the money mooches, then by serious radicals that bordered on anarchist’s, later by the idiot wing of the Libertarians that were Republicans. AKA, Paultards as Fred calls them. These people are traitors to philosophical Libertarianism, and are anything but what Reagan “The heart and soul of Conservatism.”

    What to do..?

I refuse to support those that fall into the any of the above categories. I also pledged a few years back to never again vote for the lesser of evils. I am an Oath Keeper, and as such will only give my full support to people that are willing to put their ass (real as well as political) on the line in full support of our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I feel blessed that here in Wyoming, at least so far, The TEA Party is still holding to the original values.

Let’s see how long that lasts.

    • TexasFred says:

No one wants to hear what we have/had to say Patrick, we didn’t go along with *groupthink* and still don’t… You and I have both been blessed with the ability to spot BULLSHIT in political plans, war plans and most other plans but until someone listens, it means nothing because *I told you so* isn’t changing a thing…

An individual can be smart, astute and make great choices but when you throw in groupthink, well, look at some of the TEA Parties..
